Each member of the winning Stanley Cup team is given with a day with the Cup. The NHL, the winning franchise, the Hockey Hall of Fame, and the player organize an event in each player's hometown that turns into quite a celebration. There is no limit to the Cup’s travel as it will criss-cross the globe to ensure that each player has his day in his hometown, whether that be a small village in the Ukraine or Moscow. This year, the most anticipated Cup event was the day it traveled to Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia for Pittsburgh Penguin’s captain Sidney Crosby’s birthday. Sidney packed in a parade, a visit to a naval base, a flight on a marine helicopter, a visit to a children’s hospital, an outing on his jet ski, a dinner at his home, and party with friends and family. The Cup was the centerpiece at a celebration in downtown Halifax where hundreds of thousands for fans came out to cheer for their hometown hero and see the Cup with their own eyes. Wherever the Cup travels, fans come to admire it and Sidney was provided a photographer for the day that captured each and every moment of his adventure. Those images comprise this celebratory book, along with captions and text by the hockey superstar himself.
