- Baker & Taylor
Provides ten step by step exercises and projects for drawing the human form, explains how to set up and light a life model, and offers tips and techniques for scribble drawing, using charcoal, and drawing faces. - Perseus Publishing
Eddie Armer explains that life drawing is about learning to interpret the world visually through careful observation and freeing up the mind. He demonstrates various approaches to drawing from life and a range of techniques and disciplines. He begins by discussing pencil, ballpoint pen, wax crayons and charcoal as media. He then goes on to explain how to set up a model in a simple pose, and shows step by step how to produce a drawing in less than ten minutes. There are then a series of gesture drawings done in two minutes. There are chapters on line, the rhythm of line and tone and shading, scribble drawing, using charcoal and foreshortening, with exercises for the reader to try. There are four full step by step demonstrations, and finally there is advice on drawing faces, hands and feet.
