Alice Lickens is one of the few UK illustrators who has been selected by the Sendak Fellowship. The Fellowship was run from Maurice Sendak's home in Connecticut and Alice spent a month out there in October 2012 exploring his archives, workspace and collections. Alice is one of the five members of the Zombie Collective, who have recently done an exhibition for the Hayward Gallery called Fathoms Deep. She works part-time at The House of Illustration and she has previously worked with Ivy Press on a presentation called Outdoor Wonderland (taken to Bologna 2012), Flamingo Magazine and Bea's of Bloomsbury.

Alice V. Lickens is an illustrator and the recipient of a Sendak Fellowship.

Alice is a freelance illustrator, author and designer based in London. She uses bold shapes and layers of texture to create her illustrations. As well as writing and illustrating her own books Alice is the designer at House of Illustration, the world&;s first home to the art of illustration in all its forms. She has worked with Lonely Planet, National Trust, Random House, Pavilion Books, Walker Books and The Guardian. Alice is one of the first illustrators in the UK ever chosen for the Sendak Fellowship and in autumn 2012 went to live and work at Maurice Sendak&;s residence in Connecticut.
