Alfie and Claire Daniels have the perfect marriage. The perfect life, even. So when Claire disappears, Alfie is devastated. And when he finds evidence that Claire arranged to meet a man for an illicit affair, he is even more heartbroken. Then Claire returns. Escaped from a caravan in Wales where the man - who the police are now hunting - had kept her. She is traumatized, but ok. Alfie is relieved. But also confused. Because he knows the man never existed. Claire was not having an affair. Alfie set the whole thing up to get at Claire's money. Claire says she still loves him. But he can't even be sure of that.
