Summary:

Med student Lucas (Jonah Hauer-King) rescues young pit bull mix Bella (voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard) from a construction site in Denver, Colorado. But Denver's laws against pit bull ownership, and a "no dogs" clause in the lease where he and his mom (Ashley Judd) live, force Lucas to send Bella to his friends in New Mexico until he can get a new place. Unable to stand the separation, Bella embarks on a perilous two-year, 400-mile trek to get back to Lucas.
