Joanna Cole (1944–2020) was best known for her beloved Magic School Bus series. Before becoming a full-time writer, she taught elementary school, worked with a news magazine, and was a senior editor of children’s books. 

James Burks started drawing as a little kid and hasn’t stopped since. Along the way he’s written and illustrated some books of his own, including Gabby and GatorBeep and Bah, and Bird and Squirrel on the Run. The illustrator of The Monstore, James lives in Southern California with his family.
