People in the world come in a rainbow of colours and Violet herself is a wonderful mixture of her mom and dad. Her mom is red, her dad is blue, and, as the little girl declares:
"I am proud to be both. I am proud to be me! I am Violet!
Author Tania Duprey Stehlik and illustrator Vanja Vuleta Jovanovic first explored this topic in their picture book, Violet, published in 2009. That picture book was a Blue Spruce Award Finalist, and was selected for the #WeNeedDiverseBooks first Booktalking kit.
