Originally produced by Rushlake Media in 2024.THE EMPTY GRAVE follows the emotional journey of two Tanzanian families in search of their stolen ancestors. Their quest leads them to Germany where tens of thousands of human remains from former German colonies are stored in museum depots - a haunting legacy of colonial plunder in the early 20th century, taken for racist research and as macabre trophies.Set in the present, the film unveils the enduring traces and traumas inflicted by colonial crimes on families and communities. It navigates the obscure maze of German and Tanzanian bureaucracy, revealing the struggle to reckon with this painful history. - Uncle Vanya. by Tuminas, Rimas,film director.; Dubrovskaya, Anna,actor.; Kregzhde, Eugeniya,actor.; Makovetskiy, Sergey,actor.; Simonov, Vladimir,actor.; Stage Russia (Firm),dst; Kanopy (Firm),dst;
Anna Dubrovskaya, Eugeniya Kregzhde, Sergey Makovetskiy, Vladimir SimonovOriginally produced by Stage Russia in 2018.Rimas Tuminas' reimagining of Anton Chekhov's tale about broken illusions and dashed hopes is freed from its traditional trappings, leaving behind a battlefield for passions and colliding ambitions. We are given an empty space from which life has departed, a theater space with grey slips, a plaster of Paris lion – a symbol of Petersburg, perhaps the ancestor who built the house came from there, a workbench made out of rough boards, an old sofa, several chairs of different colors. This UNCLE VANYA is about what Chekhov’s characters think and what they admit to only at moments of emotional turmoil. They are at times tongue-tied or overly brutal, but their revelations break out of them fervently, desperately just as a man breaks out of a stuffy room into the open air. A Golden Mask Winner for Best Drama, featuring the inimitable Sergey Makovetskiy as Voynitsky.Mode of access: World Wide Web.
