- Embracing Hope On Freedom, Responsibility & the Meaning of Life [electronic resource] : by Frankl, Viktor E..aut; Vesely-Frankl, Alexander.; cloudLibrary;
- A highly anticipated, rediscovered collection from Viktor Frankl, published for the first time in the United States, exploring freedom, responsibility, and how we can draw meaning from the temporary nature of our lives From the bestselling author of Man's Search for Meaning, which has sold over 18 million copies The Library of Congress lists Man’s Search for Meaning as one of the ten most influential books in history. Scientists and artists, politicians and celebrities regularly cite Frankl as one of the most important authors every person should read. Now, there is another book for his devoted fans to add to their collections. Published here for the first time in the United States, Embracing Hope continues Frankl’s enduring life’s work and provides even more lessons for those searching for meaning and purpose. It’s made up of four distinct pieces from Frankl on different themes - all uniting around the idea that we should remain open to life even when we have been subjected to appalling injustice, and even when we are faced with our own mortality and the brief nature of our lives. At a time of global suffering where so many are searching for hope and meaning, Frankl’s work seems more relevant and more important than ever. Whether you're a devoted follower of Frankl's work or a newcomer seeking to enrich your understanding of life's purpose, this book promises a captivating journey that will leave you pondering its teachings long after you've turned the final page. Just imagine what would happen, what life would look like, if there were no death. Imagine what it would be like if you could postpone anything and everything, if you could put it off for eternity. You wouldn't have to do anything today or tomorrow. Everything could just as easily be done next week, next month, next year, in a decade, in 100 or 1,000 years. Only in the face of death, only under pressure from the finiteness, the temporal limitation of human existence, is there any point in going about our business, and not only in going about our business, but in experiencing life, and not only in experiencing life but also in loving someone, and even in enduring and surviving something that is inflicted on us.

- The easy life / by Duras, Marguerite,author.; Baes, Olivia,translator.; Ramadan, Emma,translator.; translation of:Duras, Marguerite.Vie tranquille.English.;
- "For the first time in English, from the literary icon and author of the classic novel The Lover, Marguerite Duras's foundational masterpiece about a young woman's existential breakdown in the deceptively peaceful French countryside. The Easy Life is the story of Francine Veyrenattes, a twenty-five-year-old woman who already feels like life is passing her by. Existence on her family farm is routine, mundane. But when she learns her uncle is having an affair with her brother's wife, she decides to bring the secret out into the open and shatter the seeming tranquility of their lives. Tragedy ensues, as Francine expected, but even amidst her grief, she continues to experience a curious detachment, an inability to navigate the world as others do. Hoping to be cleansed of what ails her, she travels to the coast to visit the sea, where she finds herself fully unraveling. Lying in the sun with her toes in the sand by day and psychologically dissolving in her hotel room by night, soon her inner crisis reaches its peak and she must grapple with whether to take hold of her own existence, or instead to surrender to the easy life. An extraordinary examination of a young woman's estrangement from the world that only Marguerite Duras could have written, The Easy Life is a work of unsettling beauty and insight, and a bold, spellbinding journey into the depths of the human heart"--

- Breaking things at work : the Luddites are right about why you hate your job / by Mueller, Gavin,author.;
- Includes bibliographical references and index."In the nineteenth century, English textile workers responded to the introduction of new technologies on the factory floor by smashing them to bits. For years the Luddites roamed the English countryside, practicing drills and manoeuvres that they would later deploy on unsuspecting machines. The movement has been derided by scholars as a backwards-looking and ultimately ineffectual effort to stem the march of history; for Gavin Mueller, the movement gets at the heart of the antagonistic relationship between all workers, including us today, and the so-called progressive gains secured by new technologies. The luddites weren't primitive and they are still a force, however unconsciously, in the workplaces of the twenty-first century world. Breaking Things at Work is an innovative rethinking of labour and machines, leaping from textile mills to algorithms, from existentially threatened knife cutters of rural Germany to surveillance-evading truckers driving across the continental United States. Mueller argues that the future stability and empowerment of working-class movements will depend on subverting these technologies and preventing their spread wherever possible. The task is intimidating, but the seeds of this resistance are already present in the neo-Luddite efforts of hackers, pirates, and dark web users who are challenging surveillance and control, often through older systems of communication technology"--
