He would go on to play for the Montreal Canadians. Then, he would become a star for the wild New York Americans - a team founded and owned by a gangster and rum-runner. Patterson would go on to be a founding player with the AHL and then return home to Kingston where a promising coaching and officiating career was destroyed by scandal.
