- Demon Mineral. by Austin, Hadley,film director.; Video Project (Firm),dst; Kanopy (Firm),dst;
Originally produced by Video Project in 2023.DEMON MINERAL can be considered an anti-Western, flipping the classical cinematic paradigm by centering the voices and experiences of the Diné community to explore the legacy of uranium mining in Diné Bikeyah, the sacred homelands of the Navajo where over 500 unremediated mines are scattered across an area the size of West Virginia. In the span of just four generations entire ways of living have been lost or severely compromised, as mining has contaminated the air, water, livestock, and land upon which the community relies for its existence. The film also celebrates the actions the Diné community is taking to fight against new mines and improve life in an irradiated ecosystem which has resulted in a sharp rise in cancer, kidney failure, and other diseases.Mode of access: World Wide Web.

- Sanctuary of the shadow / by Ascher, Aurora,author.;
"Harrow was born during a war between two of the five capricious Elemental Queens. It's a war of fury and attrition, and exacted its price in blood. Years later, she's taken refuge in anonymity, hidden within an unusual circus run by a centuries-old Enchanter. No one can know who she really is or about the magic she wields. Now the circus has acquired a new 'attraction.' A creature dark as night, with wings, and inky black eyes that dance with fire. An elemental with no recollection of who he is. - Canoe country : the making of Canada / by MacGregor, Roy,1948-author.;
Includes bibliographical references and index."From the earliest explorers on the Columbia River in BC or the Mattawa in Ontario to a doomed expedition of voyageurs up the Nile to rescue Khartoum; from the author's family roots deep in the Algonquin wilderness to modern families who have canoed across the country (kids and dogs included): Canoe Country is Roy MacGregor's celebration of the essential and enduring love affair Canadians have with our first and still favourite means of getting around. Famous paddlers have been so enchanted with the canoe that one swore God made Canada as the perfect country in which to paddle it. Drawing on MacGregor's own decades spent whenever possible with a paddle in his hand, this is a story of high adventure on white water and the sweetest peace in nature's quietest corners, from the author best able (and most eager) to tell it."--

- The way of the hermit : my incredible 40 years living in the wilderness / by Smith, Ken(Hermit of Treig),author.; Millard, Will,author.;
Ken Smith has spent the past four decades in the Scottish Highlands. He lives alone, with no electricity or running water. His home is a log cabin nestled near Loch Treig, known as 'the lonely loch', where he lives off the land: he fishes for his supper, chops his own wood, and even brews his own tipple. He is, in the truest sense of the word, a hermit. For the first time, Ken shares the story of his life. From his working-class origins in Derbyshire, to the formative years he spent travelling in the Yukon and finally how he came to be the Hermit of Loch Treig. Looking back through decades of diary entries, Ken reflects upon the reasons he turned his back on society, the vulnerability of old age and the awe and wonder of a life lived in nature.

- Waiting for the long night moon : stories / by Peters, Amanda,author.;
"In this intimate collection, Peters melds traditional storytelling with beautiful, spare prose to describe the dignity of the traditional way of life, the humiliations of systemic racism and the resilient power to endure. A young man returns from residential school only to realize he can no longer communicate with his own parents. A young woman finds purpose and healing on the front lines as a water protector. An old man remembers his life as he patiently waits for death. And a young girl nervously dances in her first Mawi'omi. The collection also includes the Indigenous Voices Award-nominated story "(Winter Arrives)." At times sad, sometimes disturbing but always redemptive, the stories in Waiting for the Long Night Moon will remind you that where there is grief there is also joy, where there is trauma there is resilience and, most importantly, there is power."--
