Jack Lowden, Jessica Brown Findlay, Jodie ComerOriginally produced by MVD Entertainment Group in 2017.Seventeen-year-old Steven Patrick Morrissey is a shy dreamer amid the tough, macho world of 1970s Manchester; a world away from the life he’ll one day lead as the frontman for seminal 80’s band The Smiths. He spends most of his time writing savage music letters to the NME to avoid his parents’ deteriorating relationship until he reluctantly takes an office job he hates to support the family. His dream of being the lead singer of a band is put on hold.Encouraged by artist Linder Sterling, Steven forms ‘The Nosebleeds.’ Their first gig receives such a rapturous response that Steven starts skiving off work in favor of working toward a management deal. But things quickly fall apart for Steven: he’s fired from his job, Linden moves to London, and the management deal for ‘The Nosebleeds’ goes forward -- without him. Suddenly Steven has no money, no band, and no friends.Nominated for The Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. A fine line between stupid and clever : the story of Spinal Tap / by Reiner, Rob,author.; Kamp, David,author.; McKean, Michael,author.; Guest, Christopher,author.; Shearer, Harry,1943-author.; Byrne, David,1952-writer of foreword.;
"For the first time, director Rob Reiner and cocreators Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer provide the full behind-the-scenes story of the making of the groundbreaking mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap and its upcoming sequel. Since its original release in 1984, This Is Spinal Tap has evolved from a beloved cult film into a cinematic landmark: an all-time comedy classic that pioneered an entire genre, the mockumentary. Now, director Rob Reiner and his cowriters and costars, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer, tell the complete story of the movie and its fictitious band -- how they met, how Spinal Tap came to be, and how their low-budget indie film took on a life of its own. Years after the movie first came out, the Library of Congress selected This Is Spinal Tap for inclusion in the National Film Registry and Tap went on to play The Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Stadium, and to over 100,000 fans at the Glastonbury Festival in England. Reiner, Guest, McKean, and Shearer provide the backstories to the movie's famous lines -- among them "Hello, Cleveland!," "None more black," "You can't dust for vomit," and "These go to eleven" -- and to such Tap anthems as "Big Bottom" and "Stonehenge." Featuring never-before-seen photographs, band memorabilia, and personal reminiscences of their enduring creative partnership, A Fine Line Between Stupid and Clever will delight Tap-heads of all ages -- just as the long-awaited Spinal Tap sequel is hitting theaters. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! A Fine Line Between Stupid and Clever also comes with a bonus memoir by Reiner's directorial alter ego, Marty DiBergi, in which he interviews Tap band members Nigel Tufnel, David St. Hubbins, and Derek Smalls about their musical journey and their drummers who paid the ultimate sacrifice to the rock gods"--

Rumble fish [videorecording] / by Claybourne, Doug,film producer.; Coppola, Francis Ford,1939-film director.; Dillon, Matt,actor.; Lane, Diane,actor.; Rourke, Mickey,actor.; Criterion Collection (Firm),film distributor.;
Music, Stewart Copeland.Matt Dillon, Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane.The second of Francis Ford Coppola's films based on the popular juvenile novels of S.E. Hinton (the first being The Outsiders), Rumble Fish split critics into opposite camps: those who admired the film for its heavily stylized indulgence, and those who hated it for the very same reason. Whatever the response, it's clearly the work of a maverick director who isn't afraid to push the limits of his innovative talent. Filmed almost entirely in black and white with an occasional dash of color for symbolic effect, this tale of alienated youth centers on gang leader Rusty James (Matt Dillon) and his band of punk pals. Rusty's got a girlfriend (Diane Lane), an older brother named Motorcycle Boy (Mickey Rourke), and a drunken father (Dennis Hopper) who've all given up trying to straighten him out. He's best at making trouble, and he pursues that skill with an enthusiastic flair that eventually catches up with him. But it's not the whacked-out story here that matters--it's the uninhibited verve of Coppola's visual approach, which includes everything from time-lapse clouds to the kind of smoky streets and alleyways that could only exist in the movies. The supporting cast includes a host of fresh faces who went on to thriving careers, including Nicolas Cage, Christopher Penn, Vincent Spano, Laurence Fishburne, and musician Tom Waits.Canadian Home Video Rating: 14A.MPAA rating: R.DVD ; widescreen presentation ; Dolby Digital 2.0.
