My Imaginary Country. by Guzmán, Patricio,film director.; Icarus Films (Firm),dst; Kanopy (Firm),dst;
Originally produced by Icarus Films in 2022.One day, without warning, a revolution exploded. Urgent and inspired, MY IMAGINARY COUNTRY features harrowing front-line protest footage and interviews with dynamic activist leaders and powerfully connects Chile's complex, bloody history to contemporary revolutionary social movements and the election of a new president.Mode of access: World Wide Web.

Made in Ethiopia. by Duncan, Max,film director.; Yu, Xinyan,film director.; Collective Eye Films (Firm),dst; Kanopy (Firm),dst;
Originally produced by Collective Eye Films in 2024.When a massive Chinese industrial park lands in rural Ethiopia, a dusty farming town finds itself at the new frontier of globalization. The sprawling factory complex’s formidable Chinese director Motto now needs every bit of mettle and charm she can muster to push through a high-stakes expansion that promises 30,000 new jobs. Ethiopian farmer Workinesh and factory worker Beti have staked their futures on the prosperity the park promises. But as initial hope meets painful realities, they find themselves, like their country, at a pivotal crossroads. Filmed over four years with singular access, MADE IN ETHIOPIA lifts the curtain on China’s historic but misunderstood impact on Africa, and explores contemporary Ethiopia at a moment of profound crisis. The film throws audiences into two colliding worlds: an industrial juggernaut fueled by profit and progress, and a vanishing countryside where life is still measured by the cycle of the seasons. And its nuance, complexity and multi-perspective approach go beyond black and white narratives of victims and villains. As the three women’s stories unfold, MADE IN ETHIOPIA challenges us to rethink the relationship between tradition and modernity, growth and welfare, the development of a country and the well-being of its people.Mode of access: World Wide Web.

The Passion of Remembrance. by Julien, Isaac,film director.; Blackwood, Maureen,film director.; Women Make Movies (Firm),dst; Kanopy (Firm),dst;
Originally produced by Women Make Movies in 1986.THE PASSION OF REMEMBRANCE, the Sankofa collective's greatly influential first film and a landmark work in British avant-garde film and video, ambitiously explores themes of racism, homophobia, sexism, and generational tensions as embodied in the reality known by a Black British family over the years. The film interweaves two narrative threads—one in which a man and a woman discourse on their own experiences living in the UK, another in which events from three decades in the lives of the Baptiste family are staged—Maureen Blackwood and Isaac Julien tease the accumulated fragments into a spellbinding, heterogeneous mosaic that powerfully evokes the multiplicity of Black experience and identity and critiques the British state’s treatment of its marginalized residents.Mode of access: World Wide Web.
