- Youth (Spring). by Bing, Wang,film director.; Icarus Films (Firm),dst; Kanopy (Firm),dst;
Originally produced by Icarus Films in 2023.A remarkably intimate documentary filmed over five years, YOUTH takes us into these independent workshops — many on a street named Happiness Road. A successor to Wang Bing’s 2017 film Bitter Money, YOUTH is not an exposé of the garment industry. Instead, it draws us into the lives of its subjects — young people who don’t make their beds, worry about having the latest iPhone, and occasionally engage in a food fight. Like so many of us, they’re doing the best they can in a challenging environment.Mode of access: World Wide Web.

- Made in Ethiopia. by Duncan, Max,film director.; Yu, Xinyan,film director.; Collective Eye Films (Firm),dst; Kanopy (Firm),dst;
Originally produced by Collective Eye Films in 2024.When a massive Chinese industrial park lands in rural Ethiopia, a dusty farming town finds itself at the new frontier of globalization. The sprawling factory complex’s formidable Chinese director Motto now needs every bit of mettle and charm she can muster to push through a high-stakes expansion that promises 30,000 new jobs. Ethiopian farmer Workinesh and factory worker Beti have staked their futures on the prosperity the park promises. But as initial hope meets painful realities, they find themselves, like their country, at a pivotal crossroads. Filmed over four years with singular access, MADE IN ETHIOPIA lifts the curtain on China’s historic but misunderstood impact on Africa, and explores contemporary Ethiopia at a moment of profound crisis. The film throws audiences into two colliding worlds: an industrial juggernaut fueled by profit and progress, and a vanishing countryside where life is still measured by the cycle of the seasons. And its nuance, complexity and multi-perspective approach go beyond black and white narratives of victims and villains. As the three women’s stories unfold, MADE IN ETHIOPIA challenges us to rethink the relationship between tradition and modernity, growth and welfare, the development of a country and the well-being of its people.Mode of access: World Wide Web.

- Zero waste patterns : 20 projects to sew your own wardrobe / by Helmersson, Birgitta,author.; Bendixen, Emli,photographer.;
Includes bibliographical references and index.A modern guide to sustainable sewing for the home dressmaker. Zero Waste Blocks offers a modern approach to sustainable sewing. Using natural fabrics and core sewing techniques, learn how to stitch without waste and make a scandi-style collection of 20 garments. Zero waste pattern cutting is a bit like a puzzle. You use a pre-determined length of fabric end to end by strategically planning your pattern pieces so that everything is used and then draw them onto the fabric. By using this unique 'paperless' method you can eliminate both textile and paper waste from your sewing projects and take the fear out of learning to self draft and sew your own clothing. This book includes 5 simple zero waste pattern blocks-- a t-shirt, skirt, tank top, shirt and trousers. These can then be used to make a further 15 projects by making simple changes or mixing and matching your blocks into new designs, and comes with pattern layout instructions and templates to make sizes US 2-26. Once you have mastered the 5 blocks the possibilities are endless.
