- "In Blackwater Falls, Colorado, veteran police officer Harry Cooper is hot on the heels of some local vandals when the situation turns deadly: believing one of them has a gun, Harry opens fire and Duante Reed, a young Black man, is killed. The "gun" in his hands was a bottle of spray paint. Meanwhile, in nearby Denver, a drug raid goes south and a Latino teen, Mateo Ruiz, is also killed. Detective Inaya Rahman is all too familiar with the name of the young cop who has seemingly killed Mateo: Kelly Broda. - Originally produced by Video Project in 2022.A re-edited version of Joris Postema's Stop Filming Us, Vivuya and Twahirwa's film takes a closer look at the imbalance of power inherited from colonialism and its consequences on the representation of the DRC, cinematic and otherwise. The idea to produce this new version arose from discussions within Postema's film about whether a Western director is capable of capturing an image and narrative of the DRC shared by its citizens. It was then suggested that local directors work with the same footage to determine if a different story could be told from the same material to convey a local perspective. Re-editing the footage, they have made a version that better reflects their perspective and does justice to their own experiences. The resulting film contextualizes the project within the history of Western cinematic representations of the Congo, and highlights the inherent power discrepancies on either side of the camera. Featuring candid conversations with filmmakers, artists, scholars, and community members, STOP FILMING US BUT LISTEN seeks to subvert colonialist narratives familiar in the West and chart a new path for cinematic self-representation.Mode of access: World Wide Web.

Marga is surprised when Anne gives unconventional and provoking answers to routine interview questions. When Robert, an unpublished poet who always has a witty line up his sleeve, and who is also Anne's ex-boyfriend, shows up, Marga becomes way more interested in her interview assignment. A love triangle comedy set in the bohemian East Berlin Prenzlauer Berg atmosphere combined with 1980s punk rock music á la Nina Hagen that comments on East German taboo topics, including environmental issues. The film offers references not only to Konrad Wolf’s Solo Sunny but also to international film history, including Billy Wilder, Woody Allen and Ernst Lubitsch.Scripted by Stefan Kolditz (Burning Life, Dresden), this comedy is inspired by the real story behind the making of Konrad Wolf’s classic Solo Sunny (1978-79).
